Why Moisture Mitigation Matters
Moisture vapor moves from cool zones (beneath the slab) toward warmer air above. In most cases, the ground under a slab remains around 55°F, while indoor temperatures are much warmer. This temperature difference causes moisture vapor to migrate upward, where it can accumulate at the surface of the concrete.
If a vapor-impermeable material—like sheet vinyl, VCT, or epoxy—is installed over that slab without protection, the trapped vapor can delaminate adhesives, blister coatings, and damage the finish.
Moisture mitigation systems provide a permanent, resin-based barrier that blocks vapor transmission and preserves the integrity of the installed flooring system.
