Moisture Emission Systems
Peckham has been dealing with moisture for over 25 years, we are experts at mitigation. We only install proven moisture mitigation systems from reputable manufacturers. If required, an additional layer of a self-leveling cementitious material can be applied to allow for proper curing of adhesives.
Moisture vapor is created when moisture in the slab comes to the surface. The typical temperature of the ground under a slab is 55 degrees, while the area above the slab is warmer. Moisture moves to the warm side and comes to the surface. If an impervious material such as sheet vinyl, epoxy, or vct is installed, moisture vapor can rise to the surface of the concrete and damage the finished product. To fix this problem, we install a barrier that blocks moisture as it rises to the surface.
