Hospital Kitchen Flooring Replacement
Location: California
Scope: Commercial Kitchen – Flooring System Replacement
System: ¼" Urethane Cement with Flake Broadcast | Epoxy Flake Coat | Epoxy Grout Coat | Urethane Topcoat
Peckham Coatings was brought in to address a failing epoxy floor system in the kitchen of a hospital facility. The existing coating—installed by another contractor—had not included a moisture mitigation layer, leading to system failure and delamination. To correct the issue, our team removed the previous floor completely, grinding down to bare concrete to begin with a proper foundation.
We installed a full ¼-inch urethane cement base with a decorative flake broadcast, followed by an additional epoxy layer with flake, a clear epoxy grout coat, and a chemical-resistant urethane topcoat. This multi-layer system ensures long-term performance, moisture control, and easy maintenance—essential for a high-use commercial kitchen in a healthcare environment.
One of the most critical challenges of this project was phasing the installation while the kitchen remained operational. Our team worked in tightly coordinated phases to minimize disruption and meet all operational and hygiene requirements throughout the process. The project was completed on time and to a high standard of quality, resulting in a seamless, durable floor.
The hospital was highly satisfied with the outcome, and based on the success of this project, we’ve since been contracted for additional work at the facility.
