All coating systems have their place, epoxy and urethane systems are perfect for aircraft hangars, auto dealerships, laboratories, retail locations and more. Epoxy is an excellent primer, filler and finish coat. Urethanes are used as a final coat over epoxy systems when color stability and gloss retention are important. It is crucial to test for moisture or incorporate a moisture mitigating primer when installing epoxy and urethane flooring systems. Some water based epoxies and urethanes are tolerant of moisture in the slab and can be an economical alternative.
